Fall 2016. Starting the final steps in the long road to college acceptances. The end of an election year that few of us could have imagined. Conversations about our school, our city, and our country. We pondered weighty issues, even as we sought refuge in our favorite diversions.
The L train is shutting down. Why do sailors get such a bad rap? Bridget Jones’ wedding is frothy delight…but maybe only if you’re white?
How’s your knowledge of first aid? Where are all the Asian people in American media? Should we care that there aren’t more women on golf courses?
Sometimes, it feels like black lives still don’t matter.
We give thanks for some of the lighter things, like poetry and country music and youth and risk-taking.
When we need to get away, there’s the great outdoors and skiing. (Or maybe not.)
We read. We wrote. We revised. We workshopped. We argued. We laughed. (Guy Fieri’s restuarant, anyone?) We spoke our minds, and we took those thoughts and ideas and provocations and disappointments and heartaches and joys and solaces and put them all here, to share with each other and with you.
